Common Q & A's:


Q: What happens on league nights?

A:  Members can arrive as early as 4:30 p.m. to begin utilizing the vast practice facilities (NOTE: practice balls will be available for purchase and no longer part of our league fee).  You choose your golf partners using a registration sheet upon check-in at the pro shop. Tee times begin at 5:30 (perhaps earlier), with the goal of completing the round in approximately two hours. We hope to do shotgun starts most nights.  Most members gather back at The Stadium Club following the round to congratulate, commiserate, cajole, console and consume savory food and refreshing beverages.

A:  You can visit the league website (www.svsu.edu/golfleague) for more details.  If you have additional questions, contact information for league commissioners can be found near the bottom of the website. 

Q:  How do I register?

A:  To confirm your participation in 2022, please complete the online interest form.

Q: I’m not sure I can commit to all 15 weeks?

A: SVPGC is very gracious, allowing us to make up rounds when not able to attend a league night outing.  Also, registration is open throughout the entire month of May.  If you are interested but unsure, you are welcome to join the group as a drop-in any of our 15 league nights at the standard league rate of $23 for nine holes.

Rules & Regulations

Pace of Play Work to keep pace with the group in front of you. Each team should be able to complete their round in about two hours, give or take 15 minutes.  Below are some things to aid the pace of play. “Tee It Forward”  Play from a set of tees that is comfortable for you – one where you are more likely to hit lofted irons into greens instead of hybrids or fairway woods. It is acceptable for players in the same group to play from different tees.  We encourage those whose average score and/or age is above 55 to consider using the forward gold tees. "Ready Golf" There is no "honor" on the tee. Any member ready to tee off can hit when the group ahead is safely out of range except on the first tee where you should start on your 10-minute interval. Each member of a foursome (or any group) should proceed directly to his or her ball. The group should NOT travel as a pack, going first to one ball, then the next, and so on. Getting Ready for 2022

It's confirmed, the SVSU Golf League will be back at Saginaw Valley Public G.C. for 2022, but with some new arrangements a new moniker - SVSU & Friends Golf Association. We will continue to allow drop-ins every night, so if you become available on a Thursday, you and or additional guests are welcome. If you are unfamiliar with our league or need a reminder: Cost is $345 Essentially, as a full-season member, you are choosing to pre-pay for 15, 9-hole rounds (includes cart) at a discounted "league" rate of $23. FYI - the standard rate for golf will be $28. We choose to gather as a group to use those on Thursday evenings but you can make up rounds if you are not available. A separate nightly prize pool may be available if you so choose to enter. Makeups & Rainouts

Make-ups We are very fortunate in that SVPGC is very flexible regarding make-up rounds but they do ask that you please call ahead to schedule a tee time. In their minds, we have purchased passes for 15 rounds of golf. If you are unable to attend golf, you will not lose it. You are responsible for submitting your score to Jason as soon as possible by completing this form . Rain-outs Unless thunderstorms are present, the course will NOT cancel golf under any circumstances. In such a threat, an announcement will be placed on the homepage of this Web site and an e-mail will be sent.
