Rules & Regulations

Pace of Play
Work to keep pace with the group in front of you. Each team should be able to complete their round in about two hours, give or take 15 minutes.  Below are some things to aid the pace of play.

“Tee It Forward”
Play from a set of tees that is comfortable for you – one where you are more likely to hit lofted irons into greens instead of hybrids or fairway woods. It is acceptable for players in the same group to play from different tees.  We encourage those whose average score and/or age is above 55 to consider using the forward gold tees.

"Ready Golf"
  • There is no "honor" on the tee. Any member ready to tee off can hit when the group ahead is safely out of range except on the first tee where you should start on your 10-minute interval.
  • Each member of a foursome (or any group) should proceed directly to his or her ball. The group should NOT travel as a pack, going first to one ball, then the next, and so on.
  • If you are ready to play and can shoot safely, and someone else is not ready, take your turn. The same applies to the putting surface. If you are ready and another is not, make your putt.
  • Use the buddy system when sharing a cart. Don't wait in the cart while your cart mate hits and then drive to your ball. Get out and walk to your ball with a few clubs. Be ready to play when it's your turn and then let your cart mate pick you up. Or, drive to your ball after you drop your cart mate off and then pick him or her up after you hit.
  • Be helpful to others. Follow the flight of all tee shots, not just your own. Once in the fairway, help others look for their ball if you already know the location of yours. Provide yardage information to others, if needed. Be ready to attend the flagstick for others.
  • When in a bunker, take a rake with you before you play your shot.
  • A 2-minute search for a lost ball should be sufficient. Drop another ball and hit it, taking a penalty stroke.
  • Be efficient on the putting green. Leave your cart on the side of the putting green closest to the next tee. Mark your ball and lift and clean it when you arrive at the putting green so you will be ready to replace it when it's your turn to hit. When possible, line up your putt while others are putting. Continue to putt until you have holed out. Leave the green promptly after holing out. Wait until the next tee to record the scores.
  • All putts within the leather (on a normal putter) are considered good.
Stroke Play/Scoring
  • We follow the 7-11 rule for scoring -- pick your ball up if you don't reach the green in seven strokes. Place it just on the green and play out the hole or until you reach 11 (max score on any hole).
  • If you swing and miss, it's a stroke.
  • No Mulligans allowed.
  • There is a one-minute time limit for searching for a lost ball. The unmowed rough, will be considered Out of Bounds (see below).
Out of Bounds Rule
When your ball is hit out of bounds or out of play you have a choice:
  • You can drop or re-tee your ball and hit it again, OR
  • Walk to the last place your shot was in bounds and drop a new ball.
  • Either way you score the penalty the same. Your first stroke was hitting the ball out of play - the penalty stroke or second stroke applies when you bring the ball back into play or drop a new ball. The third stroke is to advance your new ball, etc...
Winter Rules
Played everywhere, meaning you can move your ball to improve your lie so as long as you do not move closer to the pin. Not intended to:
  1. Allow you to move your ball so that a tree or hazard is no longer in the way.
  2. Allow you to move the ball from the rough to the fairway.
  3. Allow you to move the ball out of a hazard.
